History
Here at Hurst Lodge we believe History continues to have an extremely important role in everyday life. It allows pupils to understand the importance of individuals and events throughout time. It is about skills, such as using sources to come to conclusions and substantiate them. History helps pupils to see the diversity of human experience, and understand more about themselves as individuals, and as members of society. What they learn can influence their decisions about personal choices, attitudes and values.
We believe that students can develop their understanding of History greatly by visiting various historical sites or attending relevant lectures or talks. We take pupils in Year 8 to Hampton Court Palace and run a variety of residential and day trips; these have included the World War I battlefields, Paris and the Imperial War Museum.
